Beep Beep...the dreaded 'EO-F2' display....

My stove beeps now and then for no apparent reason. It used to do it a lot more. It seems to be settling down now a bit.

Just like my 12 year olds at school. If they discover a squeaky chair, or squeaky sneakers, or the fact that if you bang a pencil on the table it actually makes a noise, they do it over and over again for about, oh, the entire period.

Or at least they attempt to. You see, if you ignore it, the thrill is gone. If they find out that what they are doing doesn't irritate the teacher, what's the point of doing it?
So I ignore these infrequent irritants, much to their dismay, and they stop it.

So the thrill is gone on my stove, too. The beeping is stopping, at least the 'for no apparent reason' beeping, BUT there is another issue that is probably more irritating......like.....the oven keeps shutting itself off AND as it does this, IT BEEPS!

This is a problem sometimes. For example, when you are actually baking something. When you bake a pizza, for instance, the pizza likes to have it HOT in the oven. Really HOT ....for more than 1 minute at a time.

But NOOOOOOOO.....

The oven blinks 'EO-F2' on it's display after about a minute or two goes by. I think it stands for 'Elenka's Oven-Failed, 2 bad'.  And it promptly shuts itself off.

So what I have to do everytime it shuts off and I am baking gourmet stuff, is:
1. Press the OFF button. (even tho it's off already.)
2. Press the BAKE button.
3. UP the temperature to 400 degrees if I'm making a pizza.
4. Press START
5. Grin and pray for 2 seconds.
6. Stand there waiting for a miracle....
7. Hear the BEEP.  Sigh...Curse....
8. Go back to step #1.

This is not a good way to become a Barefoot Contessa!

I looked all this up online....apparently it's the touch pad that's on the fritz.
And it'll cost approximately half  the cost of a new range to fix it.

Back to step #1.

Note: My wannabe comedian son, when asked, 'what time is it?'
now says.....
'EO-F2'
This is the same kid that wants to name his firstborn child                      R-7-'bluesquare'-D. (Sorry, I don't know how to actually make a 'bluesquare' with my computer.)

Anyway, back to the stove.....It just beeped......

Crap, now I think I'm in real trouble.

Oh what a sad story - but unfortunately it made me laugh at the last part. We had a washer that used to do a similar thing - and it NEVER made me laugh. Did you know that sopping wet towels weigh at least eighty two thousand pounds? And when you try and wring them out, that all the water slithers down your arm and onto your feet and into your slippers - which were cold already. But that isn't bad enough - it then begins to seep under the washer - and when you think you have it all mopped up it sneaks back out under your feet and makes you slip and fall on your - - - - laundry room floor. Oh the joys of modern technology.

Gee, Mary Ellen is having stove-beeping issues too - it must be from all of the rain here in Maine.

It is a sad story - that made me laugh. Of course, if you teach 12 year olds, you MUST have a great sense of humor.

You are not being paranoid. There really is a conspiracy of appliances. We have similar signs of sabotage at our house too.

Get in touch with the manufacturer... Tell them I sent you. LOl... Better let my wife get on the phone with them. She'll get it done. If you are persistent with them they will send you the part at least. Those pads aren't all that hard to replace. Sometimes they will set it up with the approved repairman to repair the appliance at a discount or no charge. If its out of warranty, please be persistent and bug the heck out of them. Let me know how it works out.

Oh this post was too funny because right now our microwave touch pad will only work on the 1 and 3, and 0, so I end up wasting a lot of time standing there keying in different time combinations. Up until last week I still had my popcorn button though...I must say I really miss that one!

Elenka, thanks for keeping us all laughing!
Have you considered stand up? What am I thinking...Painting, cooking, blogging, taking care of B and J, that might be a bit too much! Who has the time???
Rock On! It's like I never left!!

My incredibly annoying beep story is up now on my blog. We can bond in our hatred of all things beeping. :)

Hey ! You are SO welcome. I'll look forward to seeing it's creation. PS. I do try to not mention the name of my little village - nit sure if you've figured it out. It's my small attempt at being anonymity - so we'll keep the location our secret. cheers, S.

Too funny Elenka! My sister was telling me she had the same problem with both her oven and microwave the other day! HA! Now I'm getting spooked!

OH NO!!!! My oven died in the spring. I wrote a few posts on it. The repairman thought that he fixed it to just have it die again!!! So I was out repair costs in addition to just buying a new stove. Plus, it was a custom built in!!!! The new ones were a different size which make it very complicated to buy a new one.

.... I feel your pain. AND!!! my car died this week!!!
