Thank you Brattcat....

Mr. Downeastdoingstuff, aka Birdman, and I have been blogging only for about 1 1/2 years. It's really been a lot of fun and we have 'met' many, many interesting people. (YOU guys!)

We have actually, in reality, met, in real life, Mr. and Mrs. Brattcat from Brattleboro, Vermont last December when they came to Portland.

They were gracious enough to invite us to their neck of the woods this past weekend.

It was a blast spending time with 2 very talented, very nice people in the Green Mountain State.
Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Brattcat for a wonderful time.
P.S. On the way there, somewhere west of Keene, NH, we stopped at rest area. It was a quaint, tiny little building with a kindly gentleman offering help to weary travelers, a cold water dispenser and rest rooms. That was about it and that was all anyone needed.

But just in case, posted on the inside of the ladies room door, was this map.

Notice the 'You are Here' marking. I shudder to think what would have happened to me if I didn't see that. I probably would have been lost forever.

Thank you New Hampshire. Live Free or Die.

The map is too funny. Looks like you had a great time - and didn't get lost. :-)

How fun, meeting blogger pals! I have only met one, so far....The Midget Man of Steel. He was a sketch!

The pleasure was ours entirely. Particularly because we got to hear the story of the "you are here" rest stop in New Hampshire before the rest of the blogging community. What a scoop!
(Don't be too jealous everyone, but Mr. Brattcat and I received an original painting by E as a hospitality gift. It's gorgeous. All this time I've been plotting and planning, trying to figure a way to BUY an original by this gifted artist. I can hardly believe my good luck at actually receiving a piece of her art as a gift.)
Every time I look at it I feel such a swell of gratitude. Thank you, E! Thank you, Birdman, for a wonderful weekend of laughter and storytelling.

It's so much fun to meet up with bloggers you get to know on-line! You always show us the most unexpected things! Is that an island in that kitchen? And why is there a kitchen in a rest area? I think the map illustrator may have been practicing something from a drafting class! ~Lili

Ok...I'm sorry but I AM JEALOUS! Now WHY did Bratcat HAVE to reveal that she got a painting by YOU! ARGGGGG! That is just not fair! Ok...I'm over it. Hey....how about an anniversary blog give away? A contest with the most commenters? A promise to always leave nice comments on your blog? I give up...can you tell I like your paintings too? Especially the snowy birches?? Oh and the Two Lights one and God those Row Boats and Spring Flowers are to die for. How did this turn into admiring your beautiful art?? Oh ya...I got stuck on Bratcat's comment...sorry.:( I think it is great that you met someone that blogs! I did too. I met Dawn from C&G Design...she and GeeGee from GeeGee's Grafitti (my mother in law) spent the day together...it was grand! We New England bloggers should get together once a year somewhere? Wouldn't that be fun? Maybe at that time we could have a raffle and someone could win one of your paintings? Whoops....did I say that?...Ok I'm done now...I'm over it! :):)

There's nothing better than meeting a virtual friend in the flesh. You've proven it with this great post.
