My blogger friend, Jan, over at Snippetygibbet has inspired me to create this project for my 7th graders. We studied using tempera paint including making color wheels and doing a whole sheet practicing 6 different painting techniques.
We the studied the colors that you find in sunsets or sunrises and used our blending techniques to create some sunsets/sunrises of our own.
Then we studied atmospheric haze and then combined all these skills to create these fabulous cut paper silhouettes. Thank you Jan! I love my kids!!!
You got that right! Beautiful Elenka is an amazing artist who not only lights up her students' minds with her talent, but it's the light in many of our homes as well. Whether it's Shaker Village, an old covered bridge, or a child holding the brightness of an apple picked from their yard, it is all here to light our way each day.
WOW What a stunning collection! I can hardly get it in my mind that those are created by 7th graders, what a great project, it gives me an idea that maybe even I could create something that professional looking too (if I had the directions of course). Your students are just so lucky to have you as their teacher. ~Lili
Amazing! It would be difficult to pick a favorite. Love your new blog header....did you paint that? Too much rain here in northern Maine....Hugs, Kathleen
REally beautiful work!! It's a toss up between the moose and the palm tree. The palm tree one has gorgeous color with the sun rising in the background....reminds me of Hawaii or some tropical place I have never been! The moose one just says Maine to me and I like the contrast in colors...the black, gray and cream front with that blast of hot orange in the background! They are all amazing....very clever work.
