Furthering my education.....

I like to think that I am always learning. A perpetual student.

One way I further my education is by studying blogs. Blogs that deal with art, food, making things, decorating, food, humor, travel and food.

Some blogs have a gazillion followers.....some don't. They're all good.

But every once in a while I come across something I don't get. It seems like those people that work in the so called 'think tanks' need something to do now and then so they think up new and cutting edge terminology that suddenly envelops the world.

Such as people saying...."Having said that......blah, blah, blah....."

As it is, it's all I can do to keep up with LOL, OMG, BFF and WTF.

Suddenly, in the more fashionable blogs, I see the terms, "after the jump". This is usually after someone's introductory paragraph for their blog entry.

Stuff like that drives me nuts, or even to drink.

WTF is 'after the jump'??? Someone.....anyone.... please tell me!

Well, I don't hear anyone answering my question, so I guess I have to do the research myself.
Here is what I found out.....

After the motorcycle jump looks like this......

After the ski jump might be.....

After the horse jump....

After the high jump....

After the jump off  the boat....

After the bungee jump....
Soooo, having said that, I still don't get it.

Anyone?

  1. hahahaha What pics you found!
If you are seriously wondering, I've always assumed that 'after the jump' means after the gap in text. (Jump from this bit of text to next bit.)

  2. Thanks, Sharon. That's kinda what I thought, but you've ALWAYS had to go somewhere after the gap in the text, but the phrase 'after the jump' seems new and really, unnecessary. If you ask me, of course.

  3. It's one of those old cliched things the Internet gets hold of and never let's go. It just means "click this link" or "continue reading here" meaning you have to click the damn thing to read more. Why "please click here to continue reading" isn't sufficient I have no idea. :)

  5. I wasn't so interested in finding out what the phrase meant (if it actually means anything at all) I was interested in what the next photo would be - I was eating and should have been warned - I nearly choked on the laughter. Thanks for the fun. I'm learning that your are a very creative blogger (actually I already knew that)

  6. Hahahahahahah I just snorted my coke out my nose.

I don't understand what any of that stuff means. I actually was following a food blog and suddenly she started doing the "after the jump" stuff and I had NO idea what it even meant. It was enough for me to stop following the blog and just not care anymore LOL

  7. I'd explain 'after the jump' after the jump but I don't think I'm going to survive it (the jump, that is).

  15. I get so annoyed when the uber-bloggers use the term "after the jump" or even, "jump the shark."

Oh and that horse and rider photo...OUCH!

  16. The horse in that photo died. He was purchased from New Zealand and was in the first Lord of the Rings. Laine Ashker almost died. The next instant the rider is crushed by the horse. This is called a rotational fall and nearly everytime kills the rider.
