Unfortunately, nobody provided me with fodder for my blog like someone did on Monday. It would have been a far more exciting day if someone in the theatre had taken their clothes off....but they didn't (and I looked....). So, we just did our thing.
First, we went up to the Maine State Music Theater in Brunswick to see My Fair Lady during the Matinee. They always do a great job, and yesterday was no exception, despite my seat behind a woman with the biggest head I've ever seen. (She kept her clothes on....) This theater is on the beautiful campus of Bowdoin College.
Following that....the highlight of 'my' day. A dream come true. A Genie in a Bottle type of event.
(((((We had dessert first! ))))) A stop a Dairy Queen in Westbrook. Oh yes, there is a God.
A half chocolate, half vanilla cone for me and a Mocha Chip Blizzard for the Birthday Boy.
True ecstasy, truth be told, would have been a Peanut Buster Parfait, but my doctor ( read this in a really whiny voice) told me not to have salt.....and peanuts have salt.
I'm a good girl. I do what I'm told. (Stop laughing Birdman aka Mr. DEDS....)
No, Eliza Dolittle are you. You were already a class act even before Birdman arrived on the stage. Not that I would EVER compare Birdman to Henry Higgins. When you visit I vote for dessert first for at least one meal! And I have roasted peanuts with no salt...

Yummm - chocolate dip on mine please.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great day! Happy Second Day Mr. DEDS
Sounds like a perfect date -- dessert first, a good show and then some free pizza. It doesn't get more gooder than that!
ReplyDeleteI love a twist from Dairy Queen...too bad the closest one is 65 miles away. :( I am trying to bear up under this brutal heat and humidity. Thank goodness for AC. AND I was so glad that I scrolled on day to your day at the beach.....I mean who would want to miss that AMAZING photo of a man lying down on the beach....ah ahem, incredible view....I could barley take my eyes off his swimwear. Hugs, Kathleen
ReplyDeleteBoth ice creams look yummy & I say YAY to having dessert first ! Happy birthday week to your husband ;)
ReplyDeleteI like dessert first too! We really should come to So. Maine for a dose of culture every now and then and how many trips do you suppose we need for free pizza??!! ~Lili
ReplyDeleteMy REVIEW of the day?
ReplyDeletePlay 5 stars*****
DQ 3.5 stars***1/2 (I drove home and it did quite a bit of melting)
Pizza 4stars**** (just green pepper/cheese... needed something else)
Yikes !!
ReplyDeleteWell...I hate to be the bearer of bad news..... but, there's a ton of salt on pizza... not to mention the glops of cholesterol ... plus the fats...in the cheeses ...and also in the ice cream... forget buying gas...you better start walking..... for your poor arteries......
Dessert first? It's a good way to live your life, in my opinion!! You're absolutely right about the pizza (I just completed my third card - thanks for informing me of the gas station's "reward" program!).
ReplyDeleteI'm anxious for today, the actual birthday, and the special drink that I'm going to sample!! That's sorta like dessert, right?
xxoo
I’ve heard good things about My Fair Lady although I’m not a big fan of musicals myself. Next time you visit Brunswick, get ice cream at Cote’s on Maine St. just a block down the hill from the theater. Best ice cream in Maine. I love the idea of celebrating for a week – what a funny beach adventure and cute sand art. Happy Birthday and 35th Anniversary! So nice to catch up.
