I found this scarf on a blog I stumbled across a while back. I knew I wanted to make it. I even pinned it onto my Pinterest collection.
Check it out. (although she seems to have stopped contributing to her blog after an unfortunate copyright incident......)
I left a bigger space between the stitching than Katie did.
It wasn't easy stitching across the yarn. I couldn't keep the yarn as wide apart as I wanted to. The sewing machine kept smooshing it together.
For the first few sections, I used masking tape to hold the yarn together, but it was a bull to pull off without shredding the fuzziness of the yarn. If I had had some of that less sticky blue tape, it probably would have worked better.
By leaving bigger spaces between the stitching, I am able to interlock the scarf halves to wear it without tying it.
I made it the same length as one of my regular scarves.
As a matter of fact, I am wearing it right now!
Thanks, Katie.
Awesome! It looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteThat is so clever. Love it. However I won't try to make this one. I am crocheting a green scarf today for a granddaughter that I won the task of making for her by signing up on Facebook on her clever page. For 2 other ladies I am making a couple of hot pads each. I love crochet.
ReplyDeleteVery clever, and I love the colors. I'm knitting a shawl with cable designs - great for the snowy weather we are having, now if I could just get it finished before the snow it gone.
ReplyDeleteVery clever...

I LOVE that scarf! What a fantastic idea Elenka! It's too bad she lost her site. I just googled Katy Did and there are a million different things in that name....including a green bug I have never seen...yuck!..a new bug! Anyway...I don't have a sewing machine Elenka. This would probably be a B**** to do by hand if at all possible?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful - I love it, too. And I can imagine how hard it would be to sew across the yarn. Don't think I'll try it - instead, I'll admire yours.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! We are in AK right now and I am wearing a knit scarf a friend gave me. It is beautiful but chilly here for this GA peach...
