I was driving into school today and, once again, noticed the price of gas.
It’s bad enough, the price that is, but can someone explain to me why ANYTHING costs a ‘dollar’ amount, a ‘cent’ amount and then a fraction of a cent????
Hello. I’m paying $3.67 and 9/10 for a gallon of gas? Nine tenths of a cent???
So when I’m all finished filling the tank by myself, why does it never total 'whatever', 'whatever' and a fraction of a cent? How can it always end up on a whole cent? I’m no math wiz, but even I know something isn’t kosher.
I fear I am being taken for a ride.
Well, think positive. At the current price around here ($3.79 a gallon), you won't be taken for much of a 'ride'. hahahaha
ReplyDeleteBirdman has a point! We have cut way back on our jaunts...it just costs way too much for gas. But I never thought about what you said. it does seem strange...and you know they aren't rounding DOWN to the nearest penny!
ReplyDeleteI'm in the UK visiting family and they're paying more than twice that so you know...it could be worse.
ReplyDeletegood point!

It is 3.79 and 9/10 here - and we live less than 10 miles from the refinery - and the trucks fill up there, drive to our gas stations and then drive down the coast a LONG way and gas is less there than it is here. Because they can!!! We've cut way back on jaunts too - although tomorrow we do the dreaded trip to Seattle (now the worst traffic in the country for amount of time actually spent standing still on the freeway - we've topped even L.A.). It will take us 3 1/2 HOURS to go 90 miles - that is insane - but Don has a follow-up eye exam so we do what we have to do.
ReplyDeleteYou have so got a point here!! Guess I never noticed it-because I can't get beyond the first numbers.....
ReplyDeleteMy husband asked the same question(s) last week. . .but I do like that last sign.
ReplyDeleteWhere do you live....we are paying 3.79 a gallon now.....Why are we paying for gas that when they got it it was a lot cheaper. Don[t make sense to me.....
ReplyDeleteWe are getting screwed...and not liking it at all!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it ridiculous? I've always wondered the same thing and no one can give me a straight answer LOL
ReplyDeleteThe last sign is hilarious though.
We're paying $3.89. I heard someone on the radio in Chicago and it's $4.29 there at the station he was at.
ReplyDeleteLove that last sign.
Hi Elenka, I AGREE.... Why do they do that 9/10ths???? Stupid... BUT--the cost of gas is even more stupid... WHY is this country going to hell in a handbasket???? We paid $3.11 for a gallon of 2% milk today. Groceries are going up --and it seems like we are paying more for EVERYTHING....
ReplyDeleteLove that Arm/Leg/First Born sign.... PERFECT...
Hope you are doing okay.
Hugs,
Betsy
While on our trip, we were pleasantly surprised to see that fuel was actually 10 cents higher than here! But then we got back and went, "oh, nevermind." ~Lili
ReplyDeleteLove the Tom's Shell sign. I'm taking a photo every month now at the same gas station, monitoring prices. For some reason, I don't see anything about gas prices on the news.
