I am home sick today. Big time sniffles, sore throat and coughing.
My electric blanket is turned on to the highest setting, ready and waiting.
But first, I had to finish making this egg. First things first.
Buy a styrofoam egg in what ever size you want. (Not too small, it's harder to work with.) (and not the rock hard styrofoam you can find in the store.)
Cut up scraps of fabric at random. Make sure they are bigger than the final form it will take on the egg.
When I made one of these several years ago, I used a metal nail file as my working tool.
I couldn't find one this time, so I'm using this white doohickey I found on the floor near the washing machine. You know, it's one of those things that are in men's shirt collars. Every now and then, they fall out and appear at the foot of the washing machine...... and this was perfect timing. In fact, it works better than a nail file.
Egg all done.
I think they're cute.

How cool is that!
the end result being a patchwork egg and not a sewing machine in site!
I like it a lot!

Yes, very, very cute! And you make it look so easy. What wonderful instructions! Thank you.
that is too cute! way to be productive on a sick day, by the way. whenever i'm home sick, i have nothing to show for it accept maybe a full trash can of kleenex.
Absolutely love your green quilted egg! That takes a lot of patience and talent. Hope you'll feel better soon.
Oh WOW! Finally a craft that I actually can do ... LOL ... and I have plenty of scrap fabric from quilting. That egg is too cool.
Thanks!
Ok, today's shirt collar is looking kind of floppy. I guess I've lost one of those little doohickeys that keeps the collar stiff. They keep falling out. I usually find them around the washing machine. Seen it?...
geez, no, birdman...I didn't see one of those anywhere! Don't know what you're talking about. ;-)
Hi Elenka,
I did this same thing with a wreath form at Christmas. A patchwork wreath. Yours is so pretty. I wish that I had thought of Easter eggs...kind of late for me this year. Thanks for the idea.
Oops...I forgot...hope you get over your sniffles real soon. Take care.
OH that is so cute. I'd seem them before years and years ago - and had forgotten that I wanted to make some. Thanks for the reminder.
Hope you feel better very soon.
You know Elenka, you are fricken amazing!
And you were sick????? Talented is a supreme understatement here. I hope you feel better soon!
That egg is great! Thank goodness for a doohickey (a wonderful word is it not?). I notice yours is called Geoffrey. Well Geoffrey has been quite the help. I do hope you are all better Elenka. You are very talented! I would love to make one of these. I will look around my washing machine for a doohickey of my own. I never find anything half as useful, only dust bunnies or the odd departed earwig. xxx
Don't you just love doohickeys? I have all kinds of odds and ends that I grab to use for all kinds of things. I've even used credit cards for effects in watercolors. I like finding useful odds and ends.
I wanted to say thanks for stopping by my spot in the blog zone. I'll be back to look at your art work. I love art.

You clever people make it look so easy, but I know better! Feel better quickly.
That is so cool and very clever. You probably make it look easier than it is, but I may just give it a go. If I start now I may have it ready for Easter 2010!! Happy Easter - thanks for visiting my blog.
